Granada The Pearl of Andalucia
This region bears a range of climates that includes a warmer climate along the coastal plain and a colder climate in the mountain areas. This produces something for almost everyone in the world of travel and it is interesting to note that Granada is one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations.
Granada is home to a large University and therefore has many students among its residents. Apart from the bustling nightlife that is partly due to the students, as a world Heritage historical city, one of Granada’s main attractions is the Alhambra fortress site. The city of Granada is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and is steeped in culture. However, Granada does offer more places of interest and leisure in addition to historical locations. Although Spain as a vacation location is perhaps more traditionally associated with sunshine and sandy beaches, the Sierra Nevada ski resort boasts approximately five months of snow during the year.
Ski Slopes Sierra Nevada
Ski lovers will be happy to learn that the Sierra Nevada resort offers its visitors a choice of 79 slopes. It should be pointed out that these are not all for those with years of experience on the ski slopes. There are routes and areas especially designated for beginners. The ski resort is separated into different zones according to length and difficulty of the particular slopes. All the necessary equipment may be rented and there are ski schools to assist those that desire lessons. Cable cars, chair lifts and ski lifts have almost become a part of the scenery. A particularly attractive feature of this ski resort is the exciting possibility of night skiing. This option was introduced in 1994 when lighting was added to the El Rio slope.
Accommodation is available in the village area of Sierra Nevada itself. Vacationers may reserve rooms close to the approaches to the ski slopes for a ski resort vacation. Other tourists, who may prefer to make a day trip to the ski slopes, may find a suitable place to stay in the city of Granada at the foot of the mountains. A variety of holiday apartments, villa rentals and hotel accommodation is available in the surrounding areas. A visit to Sierra Nevada from Granada would entail a short drive of approximately 25 minutes.
Once upon a time, people used to plan their vacations by approaching a travel agent and looking at various brochures. The destination would then be selected through a combination of attractive pictures, type of interest and of course price. Today, all that has changed. Vacationers may now plan every step of a trip via the Internet. A traveler may fall in love with Granada from the pictures and then choose the attractive sites to visit and even reserve the holiday online. The tourist may then check into the matter of accommodation in Granada, peruse the various vacation room options and then reserve a place to stay via the web.
